The golden rule
Any CA county works
A marriage license issued in any California county can be used for your Napa ceremony. Many couples pick theirs up wherever is most convenient — Napa, Santa Rosa, or their home county.
Napa County · Napa Valley
Elegant, personal ceremonies for winery terraces, vineyard lawns, and Napa Valley estates — each one written around your story by an officiant with 25 years in hospitality and weddings since 2012.

Meet your Napa officiant
Napa does grandeur well. Peter makes it feel personal.
A Napa Valley ceremony comes with a built-in wow factor — mountain-framed vineyards, golden-hour light, world-famous estates. What it needs from an officiant is the human counterweight: a ceremony that feels like the two of you, not a formality squeezed between the tour and the reception.
Peter brings 25 years in hospitality — much of it as a general manager — to that balance. He coordinates quietly with your venue and planner, times the ceremony to the light, and writes every word around your story. From an intimate exchange among the vines to a grand celebration overlooking the valley, the ceremony is crafted to feel at home in the setting.
The paperwork, handled
Napa couples have a friendly quirk of California law working for them: your license can come from any county in the state. The essentials:

Timing
No waiting period
California has no waiting period and no blood test. Your license is valid the moment it is issued and stays valid for 90 days.
What to bring
Photo ID, together
Both of you appear in person at the clerk’s office with valid government photo ID, plus your full legal names and parents’ names for the application.
Public license
1–2 witnesses
The classic option: one or two witnesses attend your ceremony and sign the license, and the marriage becomes part of the public record.
Confidential license
No witnesses
Available to couples who live together. No witnesses are required at the ceremony, and the record is not open to the public.
After the ceremony
Filed within 10 days
You, your witnesses (for a public license), and Peter sign at the ceremony. As your officiant, Peter returns the license to the county within 10 days so it is recorded.
Each county clerk sets its own fees and appointment process, and they can change — confirm the current details with the clerk’s office before your visit. Peter’s checklist walks Napa couples through the rest: Planning a Napa Elopement: An Officiant’s Checklist.

Signature ritual
Two wines, two lives, one glass. You each pour a wine you love into a shared carafe, blending them into something neither could be on its own — then share your first sip as a married couple. Led by Peter, a California RBS-certified wine professional, it is the unity ritual this landscape was made for, and it can be woven into any Napa County ceremony.
“Peter is the best — we are using him when we renew our vows in ten years!”— Bryan & Michael, married by Peter
