Ceremonies on the bluffs, beneath the redwoods, and among Anderson Valley vines — written around your story by an officiant who knows this coast, its wind, its light, and its paperwork.

A wedding party celebrating after a ceremony on the Mendocino coast

Meet your Mendocino officiant

The Mendocino coast rewards the prepared. Peter is the prepared kind.

Peter has stood on the bluff at Sea Rock as the light went gold over the Pacific, marrying a couple whose entire party agreed the moment felt effortless. It felt that way because the unglamorous details — the license, the permit, the wind plan, the timing against sunset — had all been settled weeks before. That is what a Mendocino officiant is really for.

From headland elopements near Mendocino village and Fort Bragg to redwood ceremonies and Anderson Valley winery weddings, Peter writes every ceremony around your story and the landscape you chose. Travel across Mendocino County is included in every package, and his elopement package — $400, a ceremony written for the two of you — was made for this coast.

The paperwork, handled

Getting your Mendocino marriage license.

The Mendocino County Clerk-Recorder is in Ukiah — but remember, a license from any California county works on the coast. The essentials, from Peter’s Mendocino elopement checklist:

Regular license

$95

Issued by the Mendocino County Clerk-Recorder in Ukiah. Both of you appear together with valid government photo ID. A public license requires one witness at your ceremony.

Confidential license

$97

For couples who live together. No witness is needed at the ceremony at all, and the record stays private — the simplest option for a just-the-two-of-us elopement.

Timing

No waiting period

There is no waiting period, and your license is valid for 90 days from issue, anywhere in California. Fees can change — confirm with the clerk before your trip.

Coast ceremonies

Permits on public land

Ceremonies on California State Parks land — beaches and headlands, including Mendocino Headlands — require a special-event permit. Apply early; processing takes time. Peter helps you plan around it.

Private land

Owner’s permission

A vacation rental, inn garden, or private bluff works with the owner’s written permission. Keep the footprint tiny — permits and venues favor small groups with minimal setup.

After the ceremony

Signing, sorted

License, flat surface, pen — settled in advance, so the legal moment takes two calm minutes after you say I do. Peter handles the filing from there.

The Wine Country Blending

Two wines, two lives, one glass. You each pour a wine you love into a shared carafe, blending them into something neither could be on its own — then share your first sip as a married couple.
